( ORIGINAL THREAD ) --- [ No, he was not going to go anywhere any time soon and honestly his brain kind of shuts down in terms of understanding and grasping what has happened here. There's a part of him that knows he needs to acknowledge and thank her for healing(??!) his head and any other aches he had from his training.
It's nothing short of magical, obviously, and he knows he needs to say something because she's asking him for something and yet.
Yet, his mind is blank and he's in a state of awe and shock. She shot herself, something came out of her, he was now healed, and...oh, yeah, now she was talking to him in his head? It takes a bit longer of him just staring at her and trying to think of what to do.
Right, he needed to respond. Words. Words, Yuuri, words. ]
[A bit of an amused smile at that, and she dismisses Juno, the persona fading away into a few, soft sparkles.]
Good. Sorry about all that; I know how strange that looked.
[Strange was perhaps putting it a bit too gently, but at least Fuuka was slowly coming to terms with using this ability in more public areas and in front of strangers. When she first arrived and was found out by a few people after (unsuccessfully) hiding away, she'd been alarmed, flustered and embarrassed. Not so much anymore.]
My name's Fuuka. It's nice to meet you.
[There you go, Yuuri, she's throwing you a bone and bringing the conversation back to something more commonplace: introductions.]
[ Well, introductions were useful and helpful for later down the road, so he's going to give Fuuka a nod in acknowledgement. ]
I'm Yuuri Katsuki. [ He's not entirely still there as he speaks, his mind slowly coming to terms with what he saw. Or at least, doing its best to accept it all. ]
How did you do all of that? What is an "Envoker"?
[ She might have "explained" a few things before she shot herself in the head and brought forth whatever it was that she did but it was hardly anything that he could have used to understand what happened. It didn't seem like anything that he heard being talked about.
...unless that was some sort of thing formed from all of her emotions? ]
[Well, now that she's not in danger of someone seeing her shoot herself in the head and misinterpret it, she can actually relax and explain what happened.]
In the world I come from, some select people have what's called Potential. That Potential means they can summon a Persona, which is what you just saw.
The Evoker is a tool that we use to summon our Personas. [She glances at the spot in her coat where she had put it away.] To be honest, I'm not fully sure how they work myself...
[She only had the one Evoker, so it was far too valuable to dismantle, and she wasn't sure if she was fully comfortable with dismantling a weapon, anyway. Even if it was technically just the tool to summon said weapon...]
[ Sadly even as Fuuka explains herself more thoroughly than before, Yuuri is still only barely understanding what is going on. For the most part, he understands that he just has to accept things at face value. The fact that there were things called "Persona" and how the gun she held to her head wasn't really a gun... ]
Okay. [ He says sounding a bit more confident and less wary of everything that had transpired. Even if he kept questioning things, it wouldn't do him any good so he just forces himself to accept it. ] That all sounds amazing.
[ Because it really is. ]
I'm guessing there are other kind of Personas—from where you're from.
[It's okay Yuuri, even the few select people she was talking about don't really understand the whole thing; they just know it works and they use it.
She can't help but give an amused smile at his reaction, and a soft giggle.]
I know how weird it all sounds. Up until about... almost two years ago at this point, I wasn't even aware that there was anything supernatural on my world, let alone things like Evokers and Personas.
[In fact, it occurs to her that Yuuri and her could very well be from the same world and be a part of the 99.9% of the population who was convinced that not a drop of magic or supernatural was to be found anywhere on the Earth. Fuuka had been startled by her first exposure as well, but she had also been thrown into a perilous position, so her disbelief had to be suspended in the favor of staying alive.]
And yes. Each of my friends has their own Persona specific to them.
[ Since it seemed like something like Personas and Evokers would have been very involved and nothing that would be given out willy-nilly. Then again, Yuuri didn't know too much about how her world worked in great detail so maybe it wasn't an involved process and could be the same as someone going through puberty.
...which is kind of an unsettling thought, honestly. ]
Though the fact that you and your friends have specific is cool. I guess if they're your own special power, it would make sense for them to be all individualized.
[She folds her hands behind her, recalling the event.]
I ended up in this place called "Tartarus" by accident. [By accident, locked in by some ill-natured kids... you know. Accident.] It's a tower with an immense amount of floors, populated with creatures called "Shadows". [Creatures? That might not be the right term for what Shadows were...] I wasn't sure what they were, as I had never seen them before. They look like, well, monsters.
...I avoided them for several hours before the people who became my friends found me. And they were the ones to explain everything to me.
[After the battle with Nyx and the aftermath, those were some of the most tense, uncertain and scary hours of her life. If she didn't have her sixth sense, carefully warning her of the positions of the enemies, she probably wouldn't be here.
[ Yuuri's listening carefully to Fuuka as she explains what all happened and just like before, there's only so much he can understand. "Shadows"... "Persona"... A giant tower filled with monsters. It sounds like something that would make an interesting video game, but nothing that would be reality. Except, well, it was her reality.
He recognizes "Tartarus" vaguely from a class he took in university but that's about it. When Fuuka's done telling him how it all happened, he takes a moment to let it all sink in with him. He's a bit loss for words but he eventually finds something to say. ]
Compared to all of that—I imagine that this place might not seem all that strange to you.
No, not at all. No magic, no monsters... Nothing like that. It's pretty boring compared to this place and what I've heard.
[ Boring and normal. Honestly, he's not too sure if that's a bad thing all things considered. Though maybe he'd be a different person if his life was filled with things like what Fuuka went through. ...or maybe he wouldn't be. Who knows. ]
I wouldn't change it for anything, however. I think I like boring.
[ Sometimes there was something nice about the ordinary? ]
I think boring is better for my world, too. And hopefully it can be that way from now on.
[No more Tartarus, no more Dark Hour, and no more Shadows. No more Apathy Syndrome because of people falling to those Shadows and becoming husks of their former selves.
No longer will the world be doomed because of a seemingly unstoppable force.
[ He catches that particular phrasing. When she put it that way, it sounded as if she was no longer going through that..? Maybe? Or was he assuming too much. ]
Tartarus was actually an altar to summon an incredibly powerful being, one that would destroy our world.
[It almost seemed impossible, and looking back on it, it didn't feel completely real. But Tartarus on its own had stretched the boundaries of "real" far beyond what Fuuka had known. Nyx had been an apocalyptic scenario come to life— equal parts unbelievable and terrifying.]
...but we were able to defeat it. Now Tartarus is no more, and hopefully something like that will never happen again.
[ He doesn't know what to say and instead kind of marvels. He didn't realize something like that could be defeated. It seemed so...intangible. ]
Wow. [ A beat as he flusters. ] I, I'm sorry.
I'm sure it deserves more than just that, but I can't imagine defeating something like that. You all must be proud of yourselves for accomplishing that.
[ Yuuri hopes he doesn't sound too cheesy or making light of what she and her friends did. He just—can't fathom it personally. ]
[His flustering once again brings a smile to her face, and she shakes her head. She knows how inexplicable it sounds. It still feels unreal, sometimes.]
Don't worry about it.
[She hardly feels like a hero despite what they've done, let alone feels as though she deserves to be treated and honored as one. Especially here. Here, she's just Fuuka.]
So, Katsuki-san, I'm guessing you already know where you are? Have you had a chance to go to the Welcome Centre?
[ Well, if that's what Fuuka was going to say about it then that's what he'll accept. If she didn't want to make a fuss then better for him. ]
Oh, not yet. I was on my way to the Welcome Centre when I got side tracked.
[ The allure of a snow rink and all of the things that catered to his love for the winter sport really blinded him from what he was supposed to do. ]
I've been told a little about what is going on and what to expect from this place. [ He'll rub the back of his neck a little bashfully. ] But it's always different seeing something than hearing about it.
quietly shrieks i almost completely forgot about this
[Yuuri Katsuki, just a normal boy from a normal world who, upon getting transported to another world, opts to, instead of figuring out wtf just happened, play in the snow.]
It definitely is an experience. But as strange as it is... Verens is a rather pleasant place to live in.
[Source: her. Then she remembers something, and goes into her jacket and pulls out a pamphlet, offering it to Yuuri.]
It certainly seems that way. [ There's a moment where he considers everything that has happened to him and...well, it isn't exactly unpleasant so he doesn't want to revise his statement but— ] Aside from the weirdness that it might have.
[ He'll take the pamphlet from her with a bit of small bow. ]
[She gives a small smile regarding the "weirdness", because she certainly can't deny that the town has it. And to think, Yuuri just got here... People freezing things with their emotions was practically mundane in comparison to some of the things she'd experienced. Actually, freezing things with emotions is practically routine...
She nods.]
Of course. I hope you're able to make a nice home away from home for yourself here. And I hope we meet again soon.
