[ There is some amusement at that statement and he loses a bit of the tension in his shoulders. Not all of it, especially since he's coming to learn more and more about Yuuri over the time they've spent together. Both at home and here.
He can't help but feel that he's deflecting part of the conversation by that statement and he gives a small huff of a sigh. Ah, Yuuri. But this is exactly why they make such a perfect and, at the same time, flawed pair. They call each other on their faults, sometimes not in the most elegant ways, but it happens. ]
I don't care if you're the only one that actually knows of this side. [ He leans in and kisses the corner of Yuuri's lips. ]
There's one more thing, Yuuri. As stubborn as I'm being on all this, I believe in you, too. You told me to believe in you more than you believe in yourself and I do. Not just on the ice. I believe there's so much there that you can't see yet. And I'll keep believing it, even if you never know.
[ To that, Yuuri doesn't say a whole lot and keeps his expression pretty much the same. Even with the kiss to the corner of his mouth, Yuuri just keeps the same mild and slightly rueful expression on his face. The only response he gives is a soft hum in acknowledgement as he looks at the ring on his finger.
It's true that he did tell Viktor to believe in him but the circumstances were different then. This isn't about his abilities as a skater but him as a person...the two are same but different. A subtle difference that he had no plans on vocalizing, and even though Viktor had just told him that he was going to keep believing him on the general whole, it was like a bandage.
A temporary fix for something much deeper. ]
Thank you, Viktor. [ He says eventually figuring that something needed to be said. He also needed a little distance from all of this. Yuuri didn't want to have this conversation in the first place and now that they have, it made him feel just as he thought it would. ] I'm going to shower now...
[ He pulls himself away from the couch and begins his retreat. ]
[ Honestly, these two need to work on communication skills a bit more, but that might come in time. Though, these talks might not be fun and might not fully fix everything, it's still things they need to start to address and grapple with. What better way than a stubborn man like Viktor taking Yuuri on like this?
Though, before Yuuri can make a full retreat he catches Yuuri's hand and stops him, staring up at him from his position on the couch. On the one hand, he could let Yuuri just mull over his thoughts in the shower, but for some reason that also doesn't quite settle right with him and he debates a long moment. ]
Let me wash your hair for you. Dinner can wait.
[ Honestly, there isn't anything sexual meant in this offer to take a shower with him, basically. They have, after all, bathed together in the past and had some very intimate-like moments while in the onsen together.
Problem for Viktor, this suggestion might not go over big, even if he doesn't mean anything terrible by it. ]
[ There was the obvious chance that Viktor would have caught his hand and would have chased after him. He often did that whenever Yuuri tried running away from him, but there was the off chance that Viktor could have given him space and allowed Yuuri to his thoughts.
It wan't always the best option to chase after Yuuri, after all. He doesn't exactly flinch when Viktor grabs at his hand but he does have to fight the instinct to jerk away from the touch. The invitation doesn't even register as something sexual in his mind. ...mainly because they haven't crossed that line in their relationship(??) for him to seriously consider it. ]
It's...okay. [ He makes an attempt to break away and go on his own. His voice is unsure and has traces of tiredness to it. ]
The bath here isn't as big as my family's onsen so, it'd be cramped in there if it were the two of us.
[ Yuuri knows his explanation is one that wouldn't deter Viktor whenever he set his mind on something, nor would it be something to stop either one of them from bathing together in the first place but...not now. He hoped that it would be good enough for now. ]
[ There is an internal debate and it seems to hold a long pause before there is any sort of response from Viktor. His thumb gently rubs over the back of Yuuri's hand. ]
The food should be ready when you're done, then.
[ There is a reluctance in his voice as his hand lets go of Yuuri's. Honestly, he hates letting Yuuri run away, but he has managed to learn from time-to-time to let Yuuri escape. Just as long as he doesn't withdraw into himself completely. Maybe a tall order, at times, but he can still hope it. ]
[ Vitkor's last gentle touch before he lets go of Yuuri's hand eats at him. Yuuri's sorry, he honestly is, but he also needs this. The distance was important and he wordlessly promises that he'll come back. There were just things that he couldn't just simply take in all at once.
Viktor might be someone who could dive head first into something without bothering to think about the circumstances or who it might affect, but Yuuri couldn't. He couldn't just accept that this was "home". This was all temporary. A home isn't something that's temporary; a home is somewhere where someone belongs.
(But had Yuuri ever felt like he belonged anywhere?) ]
Thank you.
[ There's a slight pause from Yuuri as he takes a half step back but eventually he presses forwards and climbs up the stairs into the bathroom. It was just upstairs to their bathroom, but even that small amount of distance felt as if Yuuri ran away into another part of the city. ]
